Obituary for Angelina Juhl

Angelina Juhl of Santa Maria, passed away on September 18, 2017. She was born in Seattle Washington of immigrant parents from Russia who fled during the Russian Revolution. She married her first husband, Boris Epihin, in Los Angeles where her family had relocated to after leaving Seattle. Angie was preceded in death by Boris Epihin. Angie, as she was known to so many, and also known as "Grandma" to so many people in Santa Maria who had the opportunity to know her as she worked for her only daughter, Tasha Mendez and husband Lou Mendez at RBA Attorney Services for so many years. She was a big help in picking up and delivering mail to the City and RBA, she also went to the Superior Court offices here in Santa Maria and also to San Luis Obispo to file documents. Angie was as terrific and loving mother who loved her family very much - as she loved her beloved Orthodox Church of the Annunciation parish as well. For many years when the parish was in the early stages of its beginning here in Santa Maria she was always there to help out with the fund raising and baking and making the Ethnic food our church is so well known for here and continued to help as long as she could and she always tried to keep track of everybody in the church too!
Her second husband of over 30 years, Murray Juhl, was a steam plant engineer and they would travel all over the United States going to thrashing meets in different states every summer. They met in Los Angeles while Angie was working as a secretary to a buyer for a large retail company and finally decided to move up to Santa Maria in 1979. Angie was preceded in death by Murray.
Angie is survived by her only daughter, Tasha Mendez and her husband Lou Mendez, and also has two great-granddaughters, Karalynn and Ella Mendez.
A brief viewing of Angie and a "panihida" service will be held at the Orthodox Church of the Annunciation on Friday evening, September 22, 2017, at 7 pm, and then the funeral service will be held at the Orthodox Church of the Annunciation on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at 9 am, followed by a burial service at the Santa Maria Cemetery. Immediately following the burial there will be a reception back at the church hall which is on the corner of Bradley and Francine Lane, with the "Golden Onion" dome on top.
In lieu of flowers the family request s contributions to the Orthodox Church of the Annunciation.
