Obituary for Jane Ellen (Purcell) Hurt

Jane Ellen (Purcell) Hurt went to be with her savior on April 20, 2018.
She was born in 1938 to Rev. Robert and Nell Purcell. At the age of 8, she began taking piano lessons. After graduating from high school, she attended Biola (Bible Institute of Los Angeles) where she had the privilege of taking lessons from a master teacher, Dr. Hooker, the pianist for the Church of the Open Door in Los Angeles. From there, she began teaching piano lessons and did so for 35 years, saying she loved every minute and every student.
She married Jim (James Hurt) and often said he was the most loving, talented, brilliant, handsome man on earth. They were married for 43 years. After Jim retired, they took many trips. They traveled around the U.S in a 36 foot motor home for two years. She said her favorite of all travels was flying to Tahiti. They stayed, not on Papeete, but on the little island of Moorea where they bicycled around the island getting to know how the friendly natives lived. Their “motel” there was adorable thatched huts.
Jane and Jim were known by their grandchildren as Nana and Papa, and they thought Papa was the smartest man on planet earth. One evening one of them called and asked for Papa. Nana asked if she could help but was told, “No, Nana, this is about homework”. The grandchildren were glued to their hips, as everywhere Nana and Papa went so did they.
She is preceded in death by her devoted husband Jim, her mother and father Nell and Robert Purcell, and her two brothers Bob and Bill Purcell.
Surviving Children: David, Dan and Cari Jo. Grandchildren: Mandy, Ashley, Kaylee, Danny and Robert.
