Obituary for CarolAnne Edie

Carol Anne Edie was born on June 12, 1934 to Rufus and Geraldine (Wilson) Dryden. She grew up in Santa Maria, graduating from Santa Maria High School in 1952 and married the following year to Richard Edie. She actively participated in all things associated with her family such as being president of the PTA, a Camp Fire Girls leader, and attending hundreds of sports games/events. She enjoyed music and playing the piano and organ, hosting family gatherings, crocheting afghans for family members, baking, and making popcorn balls with her grandchildren. A life-long learner, at age 60 she enrolled in Allan Hancock College and obtained her AA degree graduating with the Class of 1997. She also enjoyed the challenge of contract bridge and attained the landmark accomplishment rank of American Contract Bridge League Life Member in 2004. Much of her knowledge was shared with others in the bridge classes she taught.
A woman of great faith and prayer, she expressed much of her faith in the poetry she wrote, participating in and teaching bible study classes, and singing in church choirs.
Her greatest joy was her family - children Lee Anne Edie, Bob Edie, Richard Edie (Cheryl), and Lynn Edie (Fiancé Anthony Escobar), and grandchildren Tim Matlack (Lori), Leslie Matlack (deceased), RJ Edie (Sydney), Austin Edie, Adam Zollar, and Lauren Edie, and 4 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was welcomed home by our Heavenly Father on February 28, 2019. There will be a reception in honor of CarolAnne’s life on Saturday, March 16, 2019, 2:00-4:00 PM, Oasis Senior/Community Center, 420 Soares Ave., Old Orcutt.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Friends of the Library – Arroyo Grande branch.
