Joan V. Ward

Joan passed away peacefully on January 23, 2019, from complications of a fall she had last year.
Joan was born on July 26, 1933, to Ivy and Sydney Murphy, in Leeds, England. She lived through the war as a child and came to America when she was a teen with her family.
Joan moved to Santa Maria in 1970 and worked as a waitress for Howard Johnsons and Pappys, then she started Joans Day Care which she did for over
25 years and retired, then worked part time for JK Services for many years as a courier.
Joan is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for over 50 years.
Joan was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed baseball season.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents Ivy and Sydney Murphy and her son Richard Ward.
Surviving family is Daughter Debbie (Ward) Mathews, Son Robert Ward, Brother Anthony Murphy, Granddaughters Angela Ward and Andrea Weyburn (husband Beau). Great grandchildren Tyler, Kaitlyn, Seth, Alexis, Aaliyah and great great grandchild Kade and several nephews and their families.
The family would like to thank Joans friends for all their loving kindness and friendship and the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and Country Oaks Care Center and Marian Medical Center for their care of Joan.
Joan's funeral will be on February 4, 2019, at 11am ( viewing at 10am ) at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 908 Sierra Madre Ave here in Santa Maria.
