Obituary for Brenda Jean Silveria

Brenda Jean Silveria, of Santa Maria CA passed away on January 18, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones at home after battling cancer. Brenda was 69 years old. Brenda known as “Mam” to all who knew and loved her was born on February 25, 1948 in Charleston, West Virginia. After marrying her husband Norman Silveria who was in the US Navy they moved to Santa Maria in 1966 and started their family.
Brenda loved to go deep sea fishing in her earlier days with her sister in law Barbra Carter out on the ocean waters of both Gaviota and Avila, Port San Luis in a small inflatable boat. Although she never learned to swim that didn’t stop her. Those fishing trips with Barbara where always full of adventure bringing home numerous big halibut and more. She was especially proud of the time they caught a 40 plus pound halibut that filled up half the small boat! They loved out fishing the men!
She also enjoyed any chance to go to the casino with her husband and often times her dear friends Manual and Linda Jauquez, Ken and Sandy Kurz, and Aunt Tiny Silveria. She really enjoyed those trips until she became too ill and weak to go.
Mam as she was called loved being a Grandmother and Great Grandmother to all her family keeping them all well fed, giving them gifts, and showering them with love. They will miss her dearly.
Brenda is survived by her two daughters Sandra Rosche (Frank) of Taft CA. Kelly Hummel (Wayne) Orcutt CA, sister Dorothy Gillespie (Danny) five grandchildren Paul Rosche (Mary), Desirae Baker (Justin), Loni Richardson, Jacob Hummel, Sadye Hummel, and nine greatgrandchildren.
Brenda is preceded in death by her husband Norman (Paca) Silveria of Santa Maria CA. Her parents William and Dorothy Ray, and three brothers Charles Ray, William Ray, and Edward Ray from West Virginia.
Mam was tough and fought hard in everything she did in life until she was ready to go to the Lord and be with her loving husband and family who were there to greet her with open arms.
Services will be held on Friday January 26, 1:00pm at Dudley Hoffman Mortuary in Santa Maria.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Mission Hope Cancer Center and Wilshire Hospice for all they did for Brenda. Her pain is no more.
