Obituary for Fay "Snooks" Turner

Fay Turner, affectionately known to her family and friends as Snooks, resident of Santa Maria, California, passed away on Jan. 20, 2018 at Marian Medical Center at the age of 73 years.
Snooks was born on Feb. 3, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois. After living in several different states, Snooks finally made her home in Santa Maria, California and lived there for over fifty years. She worked for many years as a waitress at the Swiss Chalet and then many more in the cafeteria of Marian Medical Center, where she was known and loved by many of the medical staff. She loved to read, especially mysteries, but she would always flip to the last chapter first, just to make sure the book would have a happy ending and would thus be worth reading. She loved musicals and Elvis Presley and could come up with a song to sing for any conversation. Her favorites to repeat were Singin’ in the Rain and My Fair Lady.
She is survived by her two sons, Todd and Tom; her three grandchildren, Cassie, Bryan, and Aaron; her great-grandson, Nathan; her two sisters, Barbara and Lynda, and many other family members. She was predeceased by her brother, Skip.
A short graveside service will be held on Feb. 2, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Santa Maria Cemetery. A celebration of life barbeque will be held on Feb. 3, 2018 at noon at Waller Park, Area 7.
