Obituary for Bobbie Lee Kelly

Bobbie Lee passed away on March 9 of congestive heart failure in Santa Maria.

She was born June 27, 1931 Marshall, Missouri to Mr. William (Bill) Early and Mrs. C. Pearl (Windmeier) Davis. The family moved to Long Beach, California in 1939 and to Santa Maria in 1943. She graduated in 1949 from Santa Maria High School. After graduation she went worked for KCOY Radio in Santa Maria and was Elks' Rodeo Queen in 1951. She moved to Santa Barbara where she worked for KDB radio, had her own radio show.

She married Dale P. Kelly in 1954 and returned to Santa Maria. In 1973 the family relocated to Santa Barbara for Dales' job at Southern California Gas Co. At that time Bobbie Lee went back into the broadcasting business as a traffic manager for KEYT television and retired from UCSB Media Department in 1987.

Dale & Bobbie Lee enjoyed attending their children's and grandchildren's sporting and school events including their yearly trip to Florida for Spring Training. After Dale passed away in 2007 it became a family trip with her children and grandchildren to go to spring training in Arizona.

She is survived by her 5 children, Pat (Becky) Kelly, Sarasota FL; Mike (Lori) Kelly Ventura CA; Kathie Kelly, Bill (Erin) Kelly and Doreen Kelly Reed from Santa Maria. 10 grandchildren Chris (Alex) and Casey Kelly, Sarasota FL; Chelsea (Matt) Basler White Plain NY; Jason (Tracy), Seattle WA; Dustin (Jessica), Thousand Oaks CA; Lindsey Kelly Thousand Oaks CA; Gavin and Kienan Kelly Cary NC; Robert & Kurt Reed San Luis Obispo CA. 5 great-grandchildren Peyton, Cade, Cash, Vaughn and Harper Kelly. She is also survived by her cousin Gail (Dave) Kempton of San Diego. Nieces and nephews from Santa Maria Ron, Dave, Doug Selken, Linda Holt, Marcy Michaelis, and Mark Betts.

The Family would like to thank Vicky at St. Matthews Care Giver for her love and help in care for our mom.

A special thank you to AAA Kindness Care Home in Santa Maria for the wonderful care they provided to our mother. Thank you to the kind, dedicated, hardworking staff making her last month so enjoyable and loving, thank you Charles and Amparo Hunt.

The family will be having a Celebration of Life on Sunday March 18th at the Santa Maria Inn, from 1 to 5pm. Graveside service will be held at a later date.
