Obituary for Trina Carlene Erickson

Trina Carlene Erickson received her Angel Wings on March 15, 2018 after a long fought out battle with Kidney Disease with her family by her side.
She was born on November 30, 1941 to Carl and Hazel Huffman. She graduated in 1958 from Delano High School. Soon after she landed a job with GTE as a telephone operator. Before long she met the man and love of her dreams James (Jim) Lee Erickson, Sr. and the couple were married on August 30, 1963 after a short but bittersweet engagement. She continued working at GTE until the birth of their first son James (Jim) Lee Erickson, Jr. followed by the birth of their second son Dewey Richard Erickson. She never went back to the work force, instead she stayed home to be a devoted full-time mom and loving wife to her family. She was extremely proud of her boys and their many accomplishments. In her rare spare time, she enjoyed ceramic painting, cooking and baking. The couple like to entertain, so many friend and family members got to taste her good cooking and hospitality and never left their home hungry. In later years after her boys were grown, Trina & Jim became partners with Ike Simas in a BBQ catering business called “Have Pit Will Travel”. The couple served up many Santa Maria Style BBQ’s for various companies, organizations and celebrations. She enjoyed their various travels and spending time with family and friends. She became a grandma for the first time in 1994 followed by the birth of three more grandchildren soon after. She was a devoted “Nana” to not only her grandchildren but to various other family members and friend’s children. She enjoyed doing crafts, reading and baking with them.
She is survived by her 2 children James (Jim) Lee Erickson, Jr. wife Teresa, Dewey Richard Erickson, wife Nancy all of Santa Maria. Grandchildren Brittany, Dylan, Devin and Carson Erickson all of Santa Maria. Sister Donna and brother-in-law Jim Cargill as well and many nieces and nephews and Aunt Jean Best of Tulare, CA. Her devoted canine fur baby Mesha also survives her. She was proceeded in death by her parents Carl and Hazel Huffman, Brother Dewey and sister Judy Cargill and the love of her life, her husband Jim Erickson, Sr.
The Erickson Family would like to personally thank the nurses and staff at Marian Extended Care for their support, understanding and excellent care that mom received in final days. Dr. Zacharich & Davita Dialysis Center for her many treatments and loving care that you provided her with. We would also like to say thank you to those that visited mom in the hospital to cheer her up, give support and put a smile on her lovely face. Your friendship, love and caring was much appreciated.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 10:00 am at the Santa Maria Cemetery.
