William “Pop-Pop” Borneman
A.K.A. Wonderful Bill
Bill peacefully passed away on August 11, 2017 at the age of 83. Reuniting with the love of his life, Eileen, who waited 20 years for him.
Bill was born December 30, 1934 in Ridley Park PA, the second of nine children born to John and Madeleine Borneman. After graduating from St. James Catholic High School in Chester PA he joined the Navy and became an operating room technician for 4 years. He married Eileen on September 19, 1958, they had 5 children. To support his family, he continued to serve his country and joined the US Air Force for 26 years working in the communications field and served in Vietnam. After retiring from the Air Force he and Eileen made Santa Maria their home. Bill began working at Quintron, designing and building communications panels for the Space Shuttles. He continued to serve his community by becoming a Santa Maria Reserve Police Officer for ten years which he and his family are very proud of. For a short time, he taught at St. Mary’s Elementary School. Many came to know his as “Wonderful Bill” at Pacific Auction.
He has a passion for cooking, enjoyed oil painting, gardening and music. Bill will be remembered as a loving brother, husband, father, friend and as an incredible “Pop-Pop”.
He is survived by his children, Therese Borneman, John (Linda) Borneman, Mary (Mike) McCoy, Eileen (Dave) Edens, William (Tracey) Borneman, 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, his brothers Tom, Ed and his sisters Mary and Diane.
A rosary will be held in the chapel at Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary on Thursday August 16, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church. Burial to follow at the Santa Maria Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St Joseph High School Tuition Assistance Fund or to your favorite charity.
