Obituary for Amparo Santos

Amparo Santos, 89, of Santa Maria passed away peacefully in her home on September 25th, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was born in San Martin Hidalgo, Jalisco Mexico on December 21st, 1927. She met the love of her life; Alfredo Santos in her hometown and they were married on April 30, 1949. Together they traveled to Salinas, CA eventually moving to the Santa Maria Valley, and making it their home for the past 68 years. She was employed with Bonita Packing for approximately 15 years.
Amparo was a devoted mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She enjoyed spending time with her family, where she taught them how to cook as she passed on many customs and traditions. Her loving and caring personality brought us many unforgettable memories and laughs. She was a dedicated Catholic and parishioner at Saint Louis de Montfort church since 1997.
She is survived by her five children, Yolanda Schultz (Doug), Alfred Santos (Marcela), Rachel Guerrero (Victor), Gloria Good (William), Terri Smith (Mike), 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and sisters, Carmen Rodriguez and Consuelo Briseno, both of San Martin Hidalgo Jalisco.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Alfredo Santos, her parents Carmen Camacho and Maria Campante, as well as three brothers and three sisters.
Public viewing will be from 5pm to 6pm on September 28, 2017, in the chapel at Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary in Santa Maria. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 6pm.
Mass will be celebrated at 1pm on September 29, 2017, at St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Santa Maria Cemetery.
