Our beautiful, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great Great Grandmother passed away on Saturday September 16, 2017 and has joined together with God, Angels, and loved ones who have also passed on before her. She is now at peace in a very beautiful and sacred place we know as Heaven.
Evelyn May Gericke was born in Rhinelander, Wisconsin on December 11, 1922 to Davis Gustof Gericke and Edith Elizabeth-White-Gericke. Evelyn was the second of six children. Evelyn graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1940. Evelyn was a kind, sweet, generous and giving lady. She was always there to help her children and family. Evelyn loved her family very much all her life.
Evelyn married Roy William Williams on March 28, 1942 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They had six children together: Wayne D. (Janet) Williams; Bradley R. (Jing) Williams; Barbara J.-Williams-Jacobsmeyer; Roger M. (Rita) Williams; Patricia A.- Williams- Walters; Lynette L.-Williams- Evans. Roy passed away in 1986. Evelyn married Frank Main in 1988. Frank passed away in 1990.
Evelyn was preceded in death by both her parents, three sisters (Edna; Marian and Loretta), a brother George; two husbands and a Granddaughter Heather Lynette Evans; her younger brother James J. Gericke is still living.
Evelyn was converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1954. She was very devoted to the church and to the Lord. Evelyn loved Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. Her life exemplified that love.
Evelyn had many talents. She loved to crochet and made many doilies, afghans, bedspreads, and other beautiful creations. She also loved to sew clothing for her children, grandchildren and friends. She loved music and played the violin, guitar and organ. She also sang in many church choirs for many years.
Evelyn loved to play table games with family, grandchildren and friends. (She was the Champ). She also loved to do all manner of puzzles and would demonstrate great patience and then show off her completed puzzles.
We love you MOM with all our hearts and thank you for all you have done for us and teaching us to love the Lord. “Until we meet again!”
The family expresses gratitude to any and all who have given loving care, service and attention to our dear Mother. Thank You!
Funeral services will be held at the Santa Maria Third Ward Meeting House of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1219 Oak Knoll Road, Santa Maria, California on Friday September 22, 2017. Viewing at 10:00 am; Memorial Service at 11:00 am; Graveside Service to follow at the Santa Maria Cemetery.
